DIRECTOR OF RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES

 

Director of Religious Activities  (Mount Prospect, IL) Plan, direct and coordinate Islamic religious course programs at Turkish American Society, Inc. (TAS); develop instructional materials and coordinate educational content for preparing curricula and conducting courses at Weekend/Sunday School of the TAS; implement program plans by ordering needed materials, scheduling speakers, reserving space, or handling other administrative details; interpret religious education/activities to the public through speaking, leading discussions, or writing articles for local or national publications; counsel individuals regarding interpersonal, health, financial, or religious problems; direct and coordinate the Islamic religious activities including scheduling events such as camps, meetings, seminars, and retreats; plan and conduct conferences dealing with the interpretation of religious ideas or convictions; participate in Islamic denominational activities aimed at goals such as promoting interfaith understanding; visit community members’ homes or arrange interviews at the TAS Chicago Building to provide information or resources regarding religious education programs; raise awareness of Islamic religious values such as peace, mercy, sincerity, forgiveness, etc. throughout the community members; collaborate with other religion members aiming to share the similarities among different religions in an effort to promote respect and mutual understanding;

Master’s Degree in Islamic Studies, Quran Research, or Tafsir plus 24 months experience in the job is required; must have knowledge of Qur’an Scripture and proficiency in Arabic Language; ability to use MS Office programs, PC and Laptops; M-F, 40 hrs/wk.
