Schaumburg cements Sister City relationship with Turkish city
Schaumburg of Illinois and Safranbolu of Kastamonu will be matched as sister cities in the very near future. This will contribute to the list of sister cities pacts between Turkey and the US.
The governing personalities of Schaumburg – Mayor of Schaumburg, AI Larson; Director of Community Development, Julie Fitzgerald; Economic Development Manager, Matt Frank; Director of Community Services, Kathleen E. Tempesta; and the managing board of Turkish American Society of Chicago (TASC) met at the Turkish cultural center and had breakfast altogether.
On their first visit to the Cultural center, the governing team of Schaumburg expressed their pleasure. AI Larson stated that they received a letter of goodwill from Safranbolu municipality which expressed its interest in coupling Schaumburg and Safranbolu as sister cities. He also informed that a similar letter has been presented to the mayor of Safranbolu via the managing board of TASC. The goodwill meetings will proceed and following a board decision in June protocols will be signed to match Schaumburg and Safranbolu as sister cities.
